NEW MEMBER JOINS

EAST  OTTO COUNTRY!

HOG-SHED HOME

As we proudly begin the 24th season of East Otto Country, we are pleased to welcome a new member to our association.

Dug Stein, a very talented woodcarver, is the owner of WoodSwork Carvings.  In his charming hand-built studio/shop located on Safford Rd. in East Otto, you will find a wonderful selection of hand-carved figures in a variety of sizes from tiny keepsakes to large sculptures.  Each of these one-of-a-kind carvings demonstrates Dug’s reverence for the medium of wood.  Spoons and kitchen utensils are also available.  Stop and see all that Dug has to offer.  He will gladly share the story of what inspires him to bring a simple piece of wood to life!   You’ll find Dug at 8253 Safford Rd. in East Otto, and you can reach him at 716 257-9642.

WoodSwork Carvings is open year round, 10 AM to 5 PM.

At BROOKSIDE STUDIO WATERCOLORS on Otto Maples road (CR #13), Artist Robin Zefers Clark will be adding new watercolor paintings and prints to the walls of her Amish-built studio.  Robin’s work reflects the beauty of the rural area in which we live.  Her paintings are a pictorial history of agriculture and of the hardworking people who have made a life among the hills of Cattaraugus County and Western NY

Elliott and Michael Hutten of HOG SHED STUDIO POTTERY are offering a wide selection of functional stoneware items that are sure to please anyone on your gift list. Stoneware oil candles are available for purchase in a variety of glaze colors. When filled with liquid paraffin, these little oil "lamps" are a wonderful alternative to a wax candle and will fit perfectly on a shelf or windowsill. Click here to see other new pottery! For customers who appreciate something truly unique and beautiful, RAKU pottery will also be on display in the studio showroom. More than any other ceramic process, Raku pottery - which dates back to 16th century Japan - is the spontaneous outcome of planning and chance. The magic of fire and smoke imbues each piece with a life of its own!  Located on Otto Maples Rd, HOG SHED STUDIO POTTERY will  open for the season on May 1st, 2010.  Our hours  then will be Wed - Sun from 10-5 through December 23. (Until our season opens we welcome customers by appointment.) For a free informational brochure including a directional map, call (716) 257-9549, or see our website at www.eastotto.com.
