| How to Make A Pot | |||||||
| We are often
asked: "How can you possibly make something from just a lump of clay?" We try
to answer that it takes time and patience, strength and talent and persistance.
The value of practice and more practice cannot be underestimated. One must have
a clay of good quality, with just the right characteristics for forming or
'throwing' a pot. Most of our pottery is wheel thrown, but one can make pots of
functional integrity and great beauty without a potter's wheel. In the pages
that follow we will show some photographs of the steps in making a pot on the
potter's wheel. Mike and Elliott |

| The first step is to take a lump of clay, and bring it into the center of the potter's wheel. After that, one must make an opening in the clay to become the inside of the pot. Don't push the opening down too far, or your pot will have no bottom! | |||||||
